Eldorado Park couple accused of the rape and murder of four-year-old daughter return to court

The father faces charges of murder, rape, compelled rape, assault to cause grievous bodily harm and child abuse. The mother faces a charge of failing to report a sexual offence.

The Eldorado Park couple accused of the rape and murder of their four-year-old daughter return to court for their formal bail application on Monday.

The couple will appear at the Protea Magistrate’s Court after applying for Legal Aid to represent them.

Earlier in August, a little girl was found by community members in a bad state before she later succumbed to her injuries.

Last week, the case drew a lot of public interest, with civil groups protesting outside court, calling for justice for the four-year-old girl.

The Gauteng portfolio committee on community safety was in attendance and is expected to return on Monday.

The committee is calling for the court to deny bail for the couple.

They will be appearing separately because the State does not have evidence that the offences happened at the same time.

The Eldorado Park community rallied together to hold a memorial for the little girl on Sunday.
